Not a whole lot going on this week in the criminal law digest I follow, so here’s the Legal Tip of the Day: If you decide to visit the US Senate, leave your bag of weed at home.
SCOTUSblog discusses the recent decision that a misdemeanor domestic assault conviction can bar you from owning a gun under federal law. Ohio has separate domestic violence and misdemeanor assault statutes, but this decision may catch someone who is convicted of misdemeanor assault against a family member. There’s also a good discussion of the recent oral arguments in Hobby Lobby’s fight against the ACA’s birth control mandate.
