Criminal Law Weekly* Digest

Get The Legal Help You Need

Not a whole lot going on this week in the criminal law digest I follow, so here’s the Legal Tip of the Day: If you decide to visit the US Senate, leave your bag of weed at home.

SCOTUSblog discusses the recent decision that a misdemeanor domestic assault conviction can bar you from owning a gun under federal law.  Ohio has separate domestic violence and misdemeanor assault statutes, but this decision may catch someone who is convicted of misdemeanor assault against a family member.  There’s also a good discussion of the recent oral arguments in Hobby Lobby’s fight against the ACA’s birth control mandate.

The Innocence Project plugs a 48 Hours double feature on the wrongly convicted.  Check them out starting tomorrow at 9 EST on CBS.
